The Alchemist

"The Alchemist" is such a book which motivates me to explore myself to reach my destiny. The book is about the journey of a boy named Santiago who wanders in pursuit of his treasure and dreams and how he achieves his destination unfazed by the fears and failures encountered. The book clearly depicts that we should not be intimidated by fears and failures rather consider them as an integral part of your path you are following. The book clearly visualizes that only those who are passionate and are fully involved in the journey to their destination get to enjoy the real taste of success. When you read the book, you find yourself relating all the incidents at some point of time in your life. The moral is everyone should follow their dream and enjoy the journey as the protagonist in "The Alchemist" (Santiago) did.

Let’s know the history behind this book, this fabulous novel was written by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho which was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became an international bestseller translated into some 70 languages as of 2016.

Coelho wrote "The Alchemist" in only two weeks in 1987. He explained that he was able to write at this pace because the story was "already written in his soul”. "The Alchemist" was first released by an obscure Brazilian publishing house.
